View Full Version : Synthetic Oil

I've got an '08 1500 5.7Hemi with 12k miles. I've had the truck approximately a year and a half, and have done oil changes with conventional oil every 3 months regardless of whether I'd hit 3k miles between changes (I'm anal about that). I want to switch to synthetic for my next oil change..

Couple questions for the experts: Would it have been better for the engine if I'd used synthetic earlier on? What viscosity would be best for this engine in the warm/humid south Florida weather?

Appreciate any responses.

Yes it would have been better for you to use synthetic oil earlier on in your truck but it is not a bad thing that you didn't. Amsoil Ow-20 will work fine for your truck it will perform perfectly and is the right oil for you application. Flash point is 442 deg. you will not reach that even in Florida.

Also useing Amsoil you get the added benifits of an extened drain oil. 25,000 or 1 year with the use of Amsoil oil filters.

If you go and read some of my other post on oil you find good information. I hope that I have answered you question's.
