for my mega cab, is it really worth getting cold air intakes, better sparks before a flash programmer.
when i owned a diesel i had a S/B cold air filtre, but that principal is based on feeing the turbo,,with my 5.7l isit worth getting a coldair thrown on,
does anyone know what small mods can be done on a gasser 1/2 ton 1500 mega cab
thanks

Sounds like we have the same truck. I just installed the volant cai today #16857 @ volant.com but dont know yet if it was worth it or not. Got any other mods? Hope not to void my warranty though. Laterz

I have an '06 MC Hemi and started off w/ small mods but I got the "Bug" and out-modded my Superchips. Had to get the DS Predator 'cause I needed the ability to Custom Tune.

Once you start modding, there is never enough.

Experience tells me that a cold air intake like the Volant is a mod that enhances the look under your hood and sound of your engine. Performance gains are often... exaggerated, especially when a CAI is the only mod made.

If you are trying to mod cheap (ya right) I got a bigger bang for the buck just using the Diablo Sport Predator than I did with a CAI. I added a "Green Power" CAI and only got 14.2 from KS to TN. I got the Predator, re-tuned for 87 octane and have seen mileage as high as 18 MPG. Of course, with city driving it's about 14.3. I have the Big Horn edition which gives me the 20" wheels and a the towing package which gives me the 3.92 rear-end plus the truck is 4x4. If yer trying to save penny's go with the programmer... I'm just sayen...

DSP Programmer. Just averaged 18.1 on 200 mile trip to the Adirondack mountains. Hilly. 93 octane tune. Also did magnaflow 14" muffler from mufflex.com, single exhaust. Roras, flies and if u drive it right, does good on the gas too. oh yeah, 2010 Hemi Crew Cab, 3.92, 4x4. Leveling kit.

I have an 07 Sport which gives me the 20's and 3:92's. I have added a Super Chip and an K&N CIA. I haven't gone any where over the road yet but my in tow with occassional free way driving has gone up to 14.5.
Which is very simular.
