08 Ram 1500 4x4
5500 miles on it
I had heard to wait until after 1st oil change to switch to synthetic..(that was done at 3500)
hubbys runnin synthetic in his 05
What are the benefits of switchin to synthetic? Cost is not an issue just curious as to what difference it makes ..
Still gettin used to the truck ( haha or its gettin used to me one or the other)
Thanks

Nothing wrong with dino oil if you do 3500 mile changes. Synthetic is just plain better. I change my Mobil 1 every 5,000 miles, my 05 Hemi Ram, just turned 100,000 miles and burns no oil, in fact oil barely changes color. Next change on my 05 RT Hemi Magnum will be at 150,000 miles, same results! Synthetic for my hemis, 12 year old single malt Scotch for me!

I just got my 08 ram 1500 did the first oil change at 500 miles to get all of the assembly lubes out of the motor. This has always been proper break in procedure for all the race motors I've done. I will change mine every 3k miles just because that is me. Synthetic is a much finer product allowing it to get every where much quicker and it always burns at a little bit higher temp making it better for your motor because it stays on parts and last longer.
Hope that is some of the info you were looking for.
