hello,

my truck stopped running and will not restart.... i will fill you in on the past history real fast so someone mite be able to narrow it down faster. 3 months ago i had to change out the VP-44 at this time i also changed the lift pump ( old style on motor ) and fuel filter. after the truck died on me and i found out the VP-44 had gone belly up.
The truck once again ran like a champ for about 2k miles then just died again. i had a half of a tank of fuel i even tried to re bleed the lines just in case. it almost started again but died. i ran a check on the system by turning the key on and off 3 times like i was told and got the fallowing codes. i know someone will say " why didnt you look up the codes or Google it " my answer i did and each site i found had a different meaning for each code
The codes are....
p1693
pECU
p230

has anyone else ran over this problem who mite be able to help? Or is there anyone who can point me in the right area so i dont have to pay for a 120$ towe 150$ for a dealer to just look at it. My truck is my life and with out it i cant work.

Thank you
-Dan

I don't know how I missed this. You probably fixed this already. P1693 is DTC detected in Companion Module, means codes are present in Cummins ECM. I'm assuming you have P0230, which is Transfer Pump Circuit out of range, which ususally leads to a bad transfer pump. Check for power and ground with a test light when turning the key on. If both are present, measure across the transfer pump with an ohmmeter. if the resistance isn't 1.9 - 2.3 ohms then you have a bad transfer pump. Transfer pump flow on these is more essential than transfer pump pressure. Not enough flow will lead the VP-44 to an early death.
