So, my first oil change reminder came up on the truck at a mere 2500 miles. I procrastinated a few miles and got it changed by 3000 miles. I went the extra mile and put Mobil1 synthetic in it. Now at only 5400 miles it tells me to change my oil again!!!!!

Supposedly the smart system checks viscosity blah blah blah. No way I'm going to keep pouring good oil in there only to have to change it every 2500 miles!!!! sheesh.

its a 'reminder.' its not telling you to CHANGE NOW OR I'LL EXPLODE. oil changes are recomended BETWEEN 2500 and 3000 miles.

There should be a way to shut that off.

You're right, there should be, too bad there isn't. The owners manual states that there is not a recommended interval, supposedly it reads the viscosity and recommends a change when needed, not at a certain mileage.

Well, I did the ol reset the oil change notification trick. It cleared the message but came right back on. Guess I'm going to go back to dino oil and change the oil. Probably for the best what with the lifetime warranty.

my first oil change was prompted at 3300 miles...I got it changed, and just got the next indicated change at 9k. I drive mostly highway...guess that has something to do with it? I know that during engine break-in, most vehicles will generate some particles internally, so that may explain your oil's short life.

^ Correct. It's just a reminder and you should have your truck serviced within the next 500 miles.

The owners manual states that there is not a recommended interval.

The manual recommends a 6,000 mile interval.

Here's the procedure to reset the reminder. Are you sure you followed it correctly?

I did the reset procedure.... The service soon message came back in about 30 seconds. So, I changed the oil, and I just won't use synthetic any more.

My 2008 Lemi acts just like my 2010 replacement vehicle. After 2500 miles of babied highway miles the warning for oil change came on. That check is an option they should have deleted because it's nonsense

Are you using the correct viscosity 5W 20? Just a question. Could be whatever sensors there are could be defective on your truck. If this keeps happening I would get it checked. It goes by the way you drive, the air quality, a lot of variables I am told not just a timer and viscosity meter. LOL I have never seen the light we change ours 5000Km or 3 months whichever. So now we have 10000 kms and we have oil changes, because of the 3 month rule. I might start letting the light show me the way. I am just afraid this change to super thin oil and doulbling how long you can keep it in you engine.....something fishy to me.

Ha mine came on for the first time..just says 1 Message...the message is due for oil change call dealer immediately. LOL Oil is 2 months old and 1000km's really,I checked it, like clean as a whistle. It will wait till the end of this month, cleared it, didn't come back yet.
