I have a 06 5.9 mega cab SLT That I just purchased. It has 6 inch Superlift with stainless steel shocks, Edge Chip With Attitude, Air Raid filter kit, American Racing ATX Forged 20 " wheels, new 37" Nitto tires along with many other top of the line after market upgrades for a total of about 18K. (The truck was put together right, it appears) I believe it has
3:73's. The truck has 60K and is in immaculate condition. The guy owns a tire/wheel, acc shop and has used this truck to show off parts etc. He says he had thought about re-gearing but with the Edge Chip With Attitude and in tow mode he has no problem. I would only be towing 5 to 6k lbs for weekend hobbies. So on a daily basis it won't be towing anything. Hate to spend the $$ on re-gearing but also don't want to put excessive wear on the drive train. Any advise/experiences would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.:)

I had the 3.73 in my MC and they SUCKED. I put in 4.10 and they are alot better & more efficent.

Hey VA, when going from 373's to 410's did it change rpm's much, slow down hwy speed?. not that I need to go a 100mph. I'm not sure what the "happy" rpm is for the 5.9 at hwy speed. thanks!

The rpm change is barely noticeable. You will notice a quicker start from stops, easier (no lug) on small hills, easier to tow, noticeable on big hills also.
You only lose a few top mph but nothing drastic. It will make the truck more efficient 'cause it doesn't have to work as hard getting thru the gears.
IMO these MCs should have had 4.10s from the factory instead of the 3.73s to push the extra weight that we do.
Remember that you have 2 axles to change. I looked around the different forums and found them both used but in excellent shape out of an '04 QC 2500 for $250.
Hope this helps.

I'm firing this post up again, Hey VA, you went with 4:10's I never asked what tire size you have, thanks again
Hey guys, I'm thinking very seriously about doing a Gear change along with Dynatrac in front and a air locker in the rear (and maybe the front also) on my "06" Dodge2500 MegaCab 4x4 and yes I've got a quote. Anyway, I have 355/60/20's (37's) The 4:56's would prob be best except I don't believe 80mph on cross country trips will be doable any more. I'm leaning towards 4:11's as a happy medium. For the most part my truck is a 4x4 on road. it's not a work truck although I do pull around 5klbs occasionaly. I have stock 3:73's now. Just wanting any imput you may have.... Thanks!!

I'll let ya know how it turns out. I won't be getting it done untill (Starting) Nov. 9th, as they are waiting on the next batch of rear air lockers due out the first week of Nov. I'm traveling to Engelwood Co at High Country Performance 4x4, Inc. http://www.hcp4x4.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx
