After market DVD player

Hey guys I've got an 07 Mega Cab 1500 and wanted to install an aftermarket flip upindash DVD player and I was told that I had to get a software interface because the stock wireing has to ACC wire is that correct or is this guy just pullin my chain? Any feedback would be great
