I have the U connect button on my radio and when I push it is says not equipped with uconnect. Is there any way to add uconnect without getting a new radio? Is there software that can be added?
If it's not possible to add uconnect why did dodge add these buttons on the radio and then make them active?

Welcome!
I think the uconnect is part of the audio system. Nice avatar.

On radios with the buttons, but no actual U-Connect, there is an add-on system Mopar offers... 2009 doesn't list the kit, but 2010 does, should work with 2009:
http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/82211878/partinfo.aspx?DivisionId=4&Year=2010&VehicleId=18&_Cab=4_&Body=4_&CategoryId=1001&GroupId=2082&SubGroupId=3025&pc=57238
EDIT-According to installation instructions, will work on 2009s.

Kit you need for 2009 dodge ram is 1-82211878 and this one allows for the ipod cord . I f you are buying the ipod cord be sure you get the correct one , they changed the voltage some time ago not that long so depending on the version you will need the correct cable if the dealer does not know about this walk away. Go to another one, because you are gonna have to have your truck star scanned after installed and well if they don't know about the two different ipod cables then....well you know where I am going. Or you can do the research yourself and find out the two different part numbers for the cables. Good luck Yes see I just went to the website Tbird posted after I wrote this. Wow this is wild they really didn't advertise it much for 09. I imagine they have figured out how to starscan it now...took 2 dealerships 7 hours each. Was the fault of the first one that screwed up all the rrts updates everything. Well second dealer was gracious and helpful and well did more for less...they got it working and charged me one hour, the other dealer where I bought the truck I should say wanted 2 hours, then agreed to split so I agreed so my poor wife who was 50 miles from home all day waiting on those idiots could come home. I have told this story before I got my money back for the first dealers charges from Customer Service. I don't know if they charged the dealer or what happens I know that I was wrongly charged.
If you have the RES or the REN you have to have the uconnect button on the radio for this kit to work and also consider putting the microphone somewhere other than where they say I stuck mine on a spot on the console near the heater controls and radio, you really don't notice it since it is black. You can buy one that is just like a small round thing easy to hide.

Local dealership parts manager said my radio is RES but because it _does_ have the uconnect button, the kit will not work.
Different question: Is it possible to somehow swap radios with an OEM nav system?
Thanks in advance.

I think you mean it doesn't have the UConnect buttons. In that case you would use this one: http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-US/Ram/2010/Ram_1500/partlist.aspx?DivisionId=4&Year=2010&VehicleId=18&_Cab=4_&Body=4_&search=82211755AB&CategoryId=1001&GroupId=2082&SubGroupId=3025
Yes, you can swap to an OEM nav radio, part #5064739AC. You'll need the NAV antenna too, part #5064350AA.
If you want UConnect you'll need more parts.

Ok, I got my truck because I loved how tricked out the exterior was. 6" lift kit, huge knobby tires and oversized black rims, roll bar with lights, smoked lights, hidden pop-out steps, custom scoop hood, cold air intake, etc, etc.
But, the interior is just ok. Cloth seats, not many bells or whistles. If I could now upgrade the interior with most options available, my truck would be incredibly awesome. Here are the things I would really like that I don't already have:
Backup camera (for trailering my boat mainly)
Parking sensors (I'm so high I can't see behind me well, roll cage adds to blind spots)
Nav system (my only character flaw - no sense of direction :p)
DVD player (while I'm at it, for fun)
iPod/iPhone hookup (I love my iPhone)
uConnect (I love my iPhone)
Remote startup (just cause it's cool)
Upgraded sound (I saw amp, subwoofer avail for my truck on mopar accessories website)
The mygig system looked cool, too.
A porn star hologram to come up from under the seat and blow me (just seeing if you're paying attention... unless it's possible... ;))
Alright, so where do I start? Is all this possible? Anything not possible?
Any particular order I should go in, or would there be any advantage to ordering everything at once?
Are there other things I would need to add, like the electronic vehicle tracking system?
Thanks,
Dave
