hey all! Names Edward. I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.2L 5 speed with roughly 98,400 miles on it. I have a couple issues going on and I need help! #2 is more important to be answered to me than #1, but I figure I would list everything going on with it. so here we go....

1) I noticed my ABS and parking brake light had come on the other day. also my speedo don't work until about 38 mph. I think mabey just a sensor out?....

2) Major issue here.... while I am driving down the road everything is fine, But when I slow down and down shift to turn onto another road, or come to a stop sign, the truck stalls. Instrument cluster does not come on so looking at it, the truck thinks its still running, then I turn the key and it will go through the start up sequence and run as long as I keep the RPMs up, or drop the clutch while I am still rolling.

I have been stressed out for the last few days and nights due to this #2 situation trying to think of all angles and possible things that could be doing this. I need your help brothers. Any info would be greatly appericated.

Issue number 1 is most likely the wheel speed sensor in the rear axle - pretty simple repair and the part is relatively inexpensive. I've had 3 Ram's (2 '99s and a 2001) and they've all had that sensor go out.

As for issue number 2, I can't help out on that one...

My truck had been stalling as well.

According to autozone, it could be one of 4 things:
1) TPS
2) IAC
3) O2 sensor(s)
4) Fuel delivery.

Mine is an A/T but I'm sure the problems may be the same. I found my TPS is going out. To test the TPS and IAC, you CAN do a voltage test but a simple test, tap on one or the other, put it under the conditions with whitch it stalls. If it doesn't, then it is most likely that sensor that you tapped on. Repeat for other if it still stalls. (Although my oil light came on....)

O2 sensor, just take it out and inspect. But your check engine light would be on.........

Good luck.

Better late than never...

Had similar problem on 2002 4.7L. Started strong then stalled unless I held gas to keep RPMs high. Research pointed to MAP sensor on the intake manifold. Replaced and had same problem. Then removed the throttle body and took out both IAC and TPS sensors. Cleaned all three with some basic throttle body cleaner and put it all back together and it runs fine.

1. Rear wheel speed sensor is most likely cause.

2. Throttle body is likely dirty. Remove it, remove the TPS and IAC valve. Clean the tip of the IAC and the Throttle body. Re-install IAC valve and TPS, install throttle body. Disconnect battery for a few minutes to reset memory, then re-connect. Start truck up and allow to idle till warm. Take it for a drive. Should be set.

This will damage the sensor or cause it to temporarily malfunction. There is no need to clean a TPS.
