Bought A 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 V8 Magnum Lariat SLT. The 5th Cylinder Misfires Around 250 Times Per Minute. I Think Compression Is At About 140. The Wires And Plugs Have All Been Switched Around To No Avail. I've Been Told It May Be A Valve Seat Or Seal. Does Anyone Have A Thought On This???

Have you swapped fuel injectors yet??? Have you made sure the distributor cap isn't carbon tracked or have white corrosion on the terminals inside??? You'll still have good compression with a leaking valve. You need to do a cylinder leakdown test. Any more than 15% leakage is too much. You listen by the tailpipe, the throttle body, and the oil filler to determine where the leakage is coming from. Oil filler- leaking rings. Tailpipe- leaking exhaust valve. Throttle body- leaking intake valve.

put fresh plugs in the eng ( at least the missfiring cylinder) and run it. remove the plug shortly after and inspect it- is it wet, hot, or carboned up. then you can decide to go after valve train, fuel system, ignition etc.
