Hi Everyone,
I have a 98 ram 1500 4x4 with a 318 that spun a bearing at almost 200K.
I purchased another engine, but it is a 1997 318.
I spent alot of time looking up part numbers for all the engine management sensors/sending units. and most are the same.
I have a few questions about difference's if someone would be so kind to help me
1. The 1997 intake has an EGR VAlve and air pipe to the Exhaust Manifold. 98 did not
How do I disable this. Just not connect (which their is no connectors anyway), take off EGR and cover hole, remove Air pipe and plug?
or (cringe) swap intakes?
2. The Distributor connectors are different, can i just swap out the pick plate( cam position sensor) with the 98?
3. The connectors for the Throttle position sensor are different, can i swap those?
4. the oil pressure sending unit has different connectors as well, can i swap those?
question 1. I am not sure but think leave it alone and if it causes an issue, plug.
question 2 thru 4 I think a swap will work.
Any answers would be appreciated and any other advice on things i am not considering is welcome as well.
Thanks
