I have a 1500 Ram Quad - I put on a full TTI exhaust system last year...since then I have an engine tick that appears to be coming from the drivers side back 2 cylinders. The dealer said that the 5.7 and 4.7 have this common "tick" I did own a 2000 Dakota which did have a very slight tick but not like the Ram I have now. It can be heard from about 25 ft away...Also the engine light came on (it used to go out after a couple of days) but now stays on (Computor check states the cat. convt. but they are clear)...Does anyone know where this tick is coming from ? Do the Hemi's have adjustable valve tappets ?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Congratulations your the father of a brand new (Hemi tick) no adjustment except for loud exhaust system and i take it that's why your getting a cel on the dash now . Live with the tick and try spark plug foulers to eliminate the cel

Its the same thing that some people use on spark plugs when the motor starts burning oil it basically moves the spark plug out of the cylinder. Does the same thing for the o2 sensors it pulls it out of the exhaust stream so the pcm thinks the cats are working more efficiant.
