I purchased a power-pup the other day new to help read DTCs and get more power for pulling. I was all exicited and reasurded my wife that this was the way for me to work on this truck when needed. Pluged the Dog in and after going through a couple of screens it asked me to turn on the inginition. Then nothing happend after that. Bully dog told me buy phone to check all of my fuses and I did. No problem there. What could be stoping this product from working and is it common?

Does the power pup have it's own battery or is it powered through the DLC??? If it doesn't then it wouldn't turn on at all, because the only power source to the DLC is fused B+, no ignition feeds. It obviously has some sort of communication error to the ECM. Another question, you didn't buy one meant for a 2006 and newer truck, did you??? (I'm not familiar with some of the diesel programmers, but this could make a difference) The newer trucks use a CAN bus communication, while your truck uses PCI bus communication. Though there is a common feature between your truck and the 2006 and newer ones. Both have identical dedicated SCI Bus Communication circuits in the same DLC pin locations between the two. You'll have to check with the programmer manufacturer to see how it works, wether its from the SCI, the PCI, or a combination if the two. Otherwise, you have some sort of communication circuit issue.

Thanks for your time invold in our issue's. The programer was purchased for the 2005 but fit's the ranges from 03-07. It has no external power source and plugs into to the thing you sent me in the picture.:)
