so has any one done , been doing , or ever looked into geo caching before ?
i figure since some of you here get into off roading that would be a cool way to cache.
any of you know what the heck i'm talking about ????
if not a clue ... go to www.geo-cache.com (http://www.geo-cache.com) i believe thats the site, alot of people from all over the world are doing this, cache on vacation or just out and about ,during the holidays,
in a nut shell its treasure hunting , people hide this stuff and you look for it using a gps unit, or you hide it and other people look for it ...

I was telling my wife about it and how cool if sounded...she started laughing and asked me if i was gonna dress up like a character from Star Trek while doing it. I told her 'of course not, you have to wear the standard-issue aluminum foil helmet.'
I had a friend in grad school who was really into Orienteering (http://www.us.orienteering.org/ (http://www.us.orienteering.org/)) which seems similar in concept. Tho geo-caching sounds like it would be a lot less exhausting and more fun.
It really is a good time. Good clean fun for all ages. In my experience, even really young kids get totally into the 'thrill of the hunt', then opening the box full of "McToys" and trading one they brought for one in the box and signing the log.
I highly recommend it as a wonderful way to get outside; be it for an after dinner stroll with the kids and dog, or a full blown overnight midnight hunt with a few friends (did that once... it was an amazing hide. The moon had to be full in order to spot the sky to reflect off things in trees and bushed to guide your path. Totally awesome).
If I can answer any questions, fire away. The lady and I have over 300 finds and a few hides ourselves. :)
Oh and PS: The "official" website is www.geocaching.com

thanx sir jason on the correct web site,
i think it would be a kick in the pants to plant a cache high up on a trail that only 4 wheelin can get to ,
I haven't looked in a while, but if I recall correctly there's an entire classification for exactly that on geocaching.com; 4x4 in, find the cache and 4x4 out. Very very cool stuff and if I had more time these days and more folks interested locally, I'd be putting the Dak to use for exactly that.
Good times!

 yes what has happened to all that time , have we become so set in our ways that we have forgotten how to take time out to relax and enjoy
dont wait for the locals to jump in they're glued to the tube and are letting good times passing them by
there are plenty of people traveling out there just for this hobby
on any given day up here northern Nv along I-80 from reno to SLC there are about 5 people aday hunting these
there's one cache in Dell , Ut no one has found in quite awhile, it might just be to hard to get to in a car , once your off the HWY its rugged road
im going out on Blk friday am seening if i can get a good etrax gps
