If you think about it this is a pretty good match. Fiat has a number of really good small cars and they have no distribution or manufacturing in the states.

yeah i guess a fiat/chrysler mingle would so help the penstar ppl out on small cars, i mean look at dodge name a economy car.......you could say calibur but then dodge is like na man why just do a calibur when you can add srt performance to it and destroy the purpose of economy. but i think as long as chrysler is the top gainer in this and helps keep them from being traded to GM im so up for this, because i hate GM i like ford but GM can kiss off lol.

Fiat owns Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maseratti and Ferarri also. They also make some world class diesels, they share some designs with Cummins. The 5.9 and 6.7 litre motors are very similar. They may help sell Mopars in S America and other countries.

i havn't got the full scoop with this yet. does this mean dodge wouldn't be made in the USA anymore, or does it just mean fiat and chrysler's banks account would be joined? i need somebody to help me out with this one=)

Fiat would own 30 % of Chrysler.

After seeing this, I am SO down with them merging like that. Then again, as long as Chrysler stays alive, I am almost down for anything. Except merging with GM or Ford. That kills the fact that Dodge is the best make. I would have no more argument for it. :(

yeah thank god and the usa government that no GM and Chrysler merger will take place. a Chrysler-Fiat coorperation wouldnt be so bad, at least most of the company would be in control of americans and that a company that owns Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maseratti and Ferarri, would give Chrysler some hopefully common sense factor on how to do business overseas and maybe give them a more distinguise name. and fiat would own 35% of chrysler btw

so what that would make it the Chyrsler-Fiat-Hyundai-Damiler Coorperation? lol wow to bad Mitsubishi is getting i outa bed with this run the train on Chrysler whore house lol. and another thing whats the percentage of ownership between all these companines? becasue chrysler is owned by celebus the main owner who btw owns like 49% or 51 % of GM finacial, followed by if it goes into play Fiat then Daimler then somewhere along the dirty train line Hyundai?

so you would have all of Mopar, Fiat, Daimler, Hyundai, and GM. hmmmm and to think those are just the headlinning companies in which they all own at least 3 subsidudariery automakers, thats a lot of cars

also adding to this if Fiat does completely go through with this (if they havent yet) they could get that said 35% of Chrysler free of any charge and Daimler might possibly want to get rid of their remaning 19.9% of Chrysler and sell it to Fiat... in other words, Fiat could possibly own 55% of Chrysler... possibly more when Cerberus lets go of their share of it...

I wouldnt fret all that much. I was talking to the salesman and finance guy while making the deal on the 09.

They told me that Ram Trucks will break away from Chrysler / Dodge. I dont know how true that is ... but I got some literature from the Dodge web page prior to buying the truck. It had the Rams head emblem and the word Ram next to that .. only mention of Dodge was Dodge.com ...

I believe that Fiat builds some very good small econo box cars and they have some very nice small diesels. I am not interested in tiny little phone booths on wheels, but most Americans apparently think that's what everyone should buy and drive. So overall it should be a good thing for Chrysler. All I care about , that the Ram trucks keep being built and I can keep getting parts for my 173,000 mile RT Magnum wagon forever. My veins will always flow Mpoar blue blood whatever happens. So far, with everything that's happened to Chrysler, you have to admit, they are like a 9 lived cat!
