Hey, I recently purchased a 2005 5.7 hemi 1500 and was looking for the best way too beef up the motor. I'm interested in more power and better gas millage(who isn't), whats the best, most cost efficient method to this?

Easiest start is a cold air intake and a freer flowing exhaust.

Like TBIRD said cold air intake, free flowing exhaust, maybe some octain booster. Are looking for not so expensive or money doesn't matter.

Going to go ahead and call BS on the octane booster ONLY because I just went through my manual of my 05 and it sais that "higher octane fuel will not increase and in some cases even reduce performance"

Never heard of that before. I have never noticed if it has done any harm. I guess it is all in the product you use.

Along with the Cold Air Intake and High Flowing Exhaust, you can get a Throttle Body Spacer(they help with torque and mileage) and the Fitch Fuel Catalyst(helps purify fuel for better burning, mileage and power). Also, you can go with a hand held tuner, namely DiabloSport Predator or the SCT Excalibrator.

-no octane booster. it will kill your ram
the only cars you should put octane booster in is a tunned premiun running car never on that runs unleaded
it can actually hurt mpg and proformance but worst of all it will sludge up you engine

a good exaust is the first step
a cold ait intake is next but you cant leave the filter in the engine bay eposed to hott ait its a cold ait for a reason it needs to be put in a place it can access cold ait i put it under the light box where add on lights can go

good luck man i love my 05

It will not sludge up your engine. What it can do if you do not use the right octane booster is cause carbon build up. Amsoil P.I performance improver is the best product on the market. If you have any question feel free to ask.

my ram ran worse with, A. higher octane fuel, and B. octane boost. IMO, lucas fuel additive and oil stabilizer increase both power and mileage. i also use air raid helix throttle body spacer.2-3mpg+hp

don't get me wrong.... amsoil products are awesome, but add Lucas Oil Products to it, its twice as good!
