Hemi ram with new intake

Hope someone can shed some light on my question. I just purchased an 07 hemi ram 1500 Quad cab 4X4. I just put a new K&N cold air intake on it a week ago. I was wondering why when i look at the overhead computer on the avg. miles per gallon it is now showing 14.7mpg when prior to installation of the intake my avg mpg never went under 16.5mpg.

I was pleasantly surprised at the throaty growl my truck has now when i give her some gas!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Have you press the reset button. I made a trip of about 60 miles round today. On the way to where I was going I didnt realize to push the reset button and was getting for my normal city driving between 13.8-14.5. On the way back I realized hey, let me give it a reset and let the system recalibrate its self and I was seeing numbers 18 to 24 mph depending on the lay of the road and how I was on the gas.

also it could be the internal computer on your truck, keep in mind that the computer is set up to stock variables maybe your computer doesnt recognize the application or is reading it wrong
