View Full Version : Axle ratio question
I am looking at getting a 2009 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 4x4 and am trying to decide which axle ratio to select, the 3.55 or 3.92. If anyone with experience with this could shed some light on how much the 3.92 impacts fuel economy it would be appreciated. Most of my driving is local and not too much highway and I only tow a trailer with a couple of 4 wheelers 350 miles twice a year.
Thanks.

You might want to also check out the other Ram site (www.dodgetalk.com) (http://www.dodgetalk.com) - 4G RAM - General Talk / What RPM's thread. I have about 2800 miles on my 09 Ram 1500 SLT Crew cab - Big Horn Package (bigger wheels, dual exhaust) and turning 3.55. I am a fairly conservative driver - especially from stop. I do a mix of driving -
30% town - about 14.0mpg
30% 2 lane highway (50-55mph) 17.0mpg
40% 3-4 lane highway (70-75mph) 20mpg - 1,850-1900rpm
I am very happy with the 3.55 I have and love the truck. Had an 01 Dakota Quad Cab before this.
